If they weren't already teachers, a handful of Tuscany Heights Elementary instructors might just have a second career waiting for them - as runway models!

Mrs. Morris, Mrs. Cervenka, Mrs. LeBeau, Ms. Sweeney, and Mrs. Fonger ruled the "run"way, last month, to help students, staff, and families kick off the 2017 Run For The Heights fundraiser and event and early registration.  The kickoff was combined with Eat For A Cause that also benefits Tuscany Heights and held at Beefy's Backyard.

"We really wanted to build up the excitement surrounding the start of registrations for our 7th annunal Run For The Heights, especially since it is such an important fundraiser" said Kelly Lepeska, 2016/17 RFTH Event Chairperson.  "We knew kids would not want to miss seeing their teachers on stage."

IRun Texas, a 2017 RFTH Platinum Sponsor, helped dress teachers in some of today's hippest running wear.  The models got to pick out their favorite outfit at the Stone Oak retail location prior to the event. Then, these ladies hit Beefy's outdoor stage under the lights to walk, turn, and pose in front of crowd of adorning students and supportive Tuscany Heights families.

"It was really fun to see our teachers not wearing their usual teacher stuff and acting silly," said Cambria Kirwan, a 4th grade student who had Mrs. Cervenka in kindergarten.

The biggest surprise of the evening came at the end of the fashion show when Ms. Fonger, a 3rd grade teacher, donned a big white wig, Texas running shorts pulled high to her waist, and turkey socks over leggings!

The event offered an opportunity for early registerations.  Over 50 adults and 69 kids registered early.  Those who registered early got to have their name entered into a drawing for a free pair of adult shoes from iRun or youth basketball shoes donated by David Jones of Shooting For Success, also a 2017 sponsor.

Official registration for the 2017 RFTH 5K and Kids Fun Run opens December 1.  The goal is to have 875 5K registrations!  Anyone who registers by JAN 31 will receive a cool t-shirt and swag bag!  Also, there are several race registration incentives!

"We are so incredibly thankful to our families, staff, sponsors, and community who all help make this event so successful year after year", Lepeska reitterated.   She said she hears all the time that runners from all over love our hilly and scenic course, and, kids love the easy-to-run short course and competition.  Kids even get their own runner's bib!

Sponsors enjoy the opportunity our huge event crowd offers them for brand exposure.

Proceeds from the event go towards funding the many program and opportunities for enrichment Tuscany Heights provides to its students and staff.

The race, fun, health-fair, and overall family-inspired event is Saturday, March 4.  Things get underway as early as 7:30 AM!
