On your mark .. Go! The race for registrations is on as Tiger students and families chase a goal of netting 875 5K registrations for the March 4 race! With just over a month to go before the family-inspired fundraising event, planning is well underway to make this year’s event the best yet. We’ve got several new things up our sleeve … eh, running bib… to make this year’s registration, packet pick-up and run/walk event more convenient and fun than ever!
We set this year’s goal at 875 registrations because every registration counts, going towards enrichment programs and tools that improve the school and education experience for students and teachers. Run For The Heights is the school’s largest fundraiser, having brought in over 20-thousand dollars, annually, since the event’s start seven years ago. That money funds PTA speakers and presenters on topics such as fine arts, athletics, science and more. Run For The Heights funds also go towards Red Ribbon Week, campus beautification, continuing education and professional development for our staff, our beautiful Veterans Day celebration which included breakfast and the most heartwarming parade, library support, and more. Also, by registering each of your kids or family members for Run For The Heights, families are not asked to do any other school fundraisers, such as cookie or magazine sales. (As a mom of three, I can tell you, I much rather my family walk or run together and attend a fun morning of health and wellness activities with our neighbors and teachers than go door to door selling something! ) Even if you are not sure whether you will be around March 4 to attend RFTH, we ask that you consider registering for the race or encouraging friends and family members to do so. Here’s the latest on Race Day:
7:45 Pre-Race Warm Ups 8:00 Opening Ceremonies 8:05 Kids Color Fun Run 8:30 5k Run / Walk (Chip Timed) 9:45 Awards Ceremony 8 - 10:30 Health Fair, Sponsor Expo, and Fitness Demonstrations
In the seven years since Run For The Heights executed its first 5K and Kids’ Fun Run, families throughout the greater Stone Oak and North San Antonio community have come to look forward to such a well-run event. The 5K course now attracts seasoned runners who comment on the hilly, challenging course. Families, friends, and area sports teams now come out in packs to run or walk together. The Kids’ Fun Run continues to be one of the coolest events around introducing kids and even infants in strollers to the idea of run/walk. In essence, toddlers who started on our Kids Fun Run course are now running and winning the 5K in their prospective age groups! Our sponsors, who are crucial to our fundraising attempt, return year after year to not only gain exposure for their brand but to connect with other businesses and leaders among the health and wellness community. We are especially thankful for our 2017 Platinum Sponsors including Lisa Sinn Keller Williams Legacy, LC Express, HEB, iRun, A-1 Freeman Moving Group, and North Central Baptist Hospital . We encourage our families to consider these platinum sponsors and all of our past and present sponsors when you need anything from school-related assistance to heath care to groceries to a trusted realtor or gym! We look forward to seeing you bright and early on Saturday, March 4. As always, thank you for your continued support of our kids, teachers, staff and community at Tuscany Heights!
